A BUILDING CONTRACTOR in his 60s died this morning while on the job in Webster’s Park, Wildey, St Michael.

Police public relations officer Acting Assistant Superintendent David Welch told members of the media the incident took place around 10:42 a.m. today.

Welch did not reveal any of the deceased’s personal details, pending notification of the next-of-kin.

He also said the official cause of death was yet to be determined, although it is widely suspected to have been electrocution. Initial reports indicated the man was working on the roof of the Marshall Trading Building when a loud explosion was heard.

“From what we have gleaned out of the initial investigation, is that he and another person were on the building when the tragic incident occurred,” Welch said.

A team of fire officers was in the area and they were able to respond almost immediately.

The electricity to the area was cut so a team could go on the roof, where it was confirmed that the man was dead. (SAT)
