Care for elderly in the spotlight

GOVERNMENT IS TAKING steps to improve the overall care offered to the elderly in Barbados.

To that end the Ministry of Health is facilitating a workshop on Documentation in Homes for the Elderly at Southern Palms Hotel, St Lawrence Gap, Christ Church for operators of homes and the Geriatric Hospital today.

More than 50 homes are said to be in attendance at the day-long session.

There are approximately 750 long-stay elderly patients in the under public and private sector care in Barbados. The Government has responsibility for 450 of those patients. (YB)
