THE STANDARD and quality being exhibited at the Sandals Resort in Barbados are already being lauded.
Independent Senator John Watson, speaking in the Upper House yesterday, said he was truly amazed by the way people worked on the Dover, Christ Church property in the weeks leading up to its official opening yesterday.
“I was truly impressed by the way Barbadians there are operating,” he said.
His comments came as the hotel welcomed its first guests following a US$65 million upgrade.
An ecstatic general manager, Josef Zellner, said he could not have wished for a more perfect opening and explained that all restaurants, rooms and suites were ready to receive guest at the chain’s latest addition.
“Sandals and Barbados are a perfect fit which visitors will be enjoying for many years to come. This dream has been a long time coming and we are happy to finally be here,” Zellner added.
Kelly and Janet Rumpfs of Canada, were the first guests to check in.
“We didn’t realise we would have been the first guests. Both management and staff made it a moment that will be special to us forever. This property is amazing, the grounds are beautiful, the staff is friendly and we have been welcomed wholeheartedly,” said Janet.
For employees, it was also a much anticipated reward after months of training and orientation.
“Everything is so new and beautiful and it is so nice to finally be a part of the first Sandals coming to Barbados,” said attendant Shaula Bellamy. (ES)
