A DREAM TO CREATE a forum for the arts came true for Marilda Weatherhead as her brainchild The Sun Arts Festival came off at Almond Beach Resort, St Peter, yesterday.

Weatherhead, an artist and the owner of a gallery, said her aim was always to have all the local artists participate in a festival.

“It has been in my heart for a long time and as we [the Weatherheads] are looking after Almond we found the right spot to do it and the right opportunity,” she said, adding that depending on the success the event might be repeated.

The idea, she said, was to get the local artists together as seen in Miami.

The arts festival continues today.
