REVEREND WILLIAM ST CLAIR is maintaining that his preaching style triggered his removal from the local Methodist Church last November.
Popularly known as the “Barefoot Preacher”, he was responding to comments attributed to the hierarchy of the church at a news conference ten days ago that the issues surrounding St Clair’s preaching barefoot “were frivolous things which the Press highlighted”.
A report in another section of the media quoted president and general superintendent of the South Caribbean District, Reverend Cuthbert Edwards, as saying that he never had any discussion with any of his ministers about their garments.
“The discussion never centred around that. In fact, as I look back, I don’t think that I have ever had any conversation with any of our ministers about anything at all to do with garments. As a church, we could not see ourselves majoring in minors.”
