Up to Stuart

THE DECISION ON night racing at the Garrison Savannah will have to come from the top, a Town Planning Department official has revealed.

That means the last word on if or when the lights will come on for horse racing will depend on Prime Minister Freundel Stuart.

And according to the official, it’s not a question of apportioning blame; simply that a process must be followed.

That’s the response of Deputy Chief Town Planner George Browne to the recent assertion by president of the Barbados Turf Club (BTC), Sir David Seale, that an application to have floodlights installed at the Garrison Savannah for night racing is taking too long to be dealt with.

Sir David had told the SUNDAY SUN that the application was sent in since May last year and the organisation had yet to hear anything on a decision relating to the matter of the light poles.

Please read the full story in today’s Sunday Sun, or in the eNATION edition.
