COURAGE, TENACITY and teamwork are what the new Barbados senior men’s team is made of.
Last Sunday night at the National Stadium, Barbados came from two goals down to secure a 2-2 draw against Guyana in a friendly international to open the 2015 football season.
The more experienced Golden Jaguars were in control for most of the early stages, passing the ball around freely and forcing their inexperienced opponents to chase shadows.
Despite this early pressure, the first two chances of the game fell to Barbados, and Romario Harewood was the beneficiary of both opportunities.
The first one he drilled into the side netting from a tight angle on the left, and the second, in an almost similar position, forced Guyanese custodian Derrick Carter into a fine save that resulted in a corner.
Guyana obviously preferred to build their attacks on the left through skilful Trinidad-based winger Trayon Bobb, who got the better of Ricardio Morris each time they clashed one-on-one and played some tantalizing crosses into the Bajan defence.
