Dolly’s double in for charity

DOLLY PARTON LOOKALIKE Shelly Gordon is in Barbados for a special cause.

The Las Vegas resident, who has been impersonating  Dolly since 1995 and loving it, flew into Barbados on Thursday to be the featured act at tonight’s Go Red For Women Red Dress Gala at the Concorde Experience.

Gordon is absolutely taken by the sea where she is staying in St Lawrence Gap, Christ Church. Because of her tight schedule, she is unlikely to be able to get a dip in. She said that like most singers, the fear of getting water in her ears or damaging her voice before tonight’s performance will keep her away from the water. Her brief trip to Barbados ends tomorrow.

Gordon stopped in at the Heart & Stroke Foundation’s Jemmott’s Lane, St Michael office yesterday, where she got a chance to meet and greet the staff and some of the clients. Some of the lucky ones were able to take some photos for posterity.

Now in its third year, the Go Red For Women Red Dress Gala is a mixture of education and entertainment geared towards bringing awareness to cardiovascular disease and stroke, which is the major cause of death among women worldwide.
