ORGANISERS OF THE big annual agricultural exhibition Agrofest are placing more emphasis on security this year.
James Paul, chief executive officer of the Barbados Agricultural Society which organises Agrofest, says individuals and companies generating money at the exhibition need to be “extremely cautious”, because there were a number of “lawless persons” “up to no good” who might try to target the exhibition.
Addressing a gathering of Agrofest sponsors in Queen’s Park, Bridgetown, this morning, Paul said people should take whatever precaution was necessary to safeguard their revenues, but the police force would continue to provide overall security for the exhibition.
The annual exhibition runs from February 27 to March 1. There will be more than 300 exhibitors with a variety of displays including livestock, vegetables, flowers, plants, craft items, educational items, games of chance, and entertainment. (TY)
