BARBADIAN EDUCATORS have been told to stop exploiting the challenges that students are facing.
The call came from the Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of Education, Senator Harry Husbands, as he addressed the 14 finalists in the Schools Music Festival yesterday at the Prince Cave Hall, Station Hill, St Michael.
A former school teacher and trade unionist, Husbands said there was a growing tendency by some people, who he believed should know better, to take advantage of the challenges and problems facing the youth. Whether it was at school or out of school their efforts, he said, were fixed on “[advancing] their own narrow agenda, to advance their own narrow careers by exploiting the challenges that confront you as young people”.
