THE QUEEN ELIZABETH HOSPITAL has suffered a 25 per cent dip in revenue as patients opt for free services it offers over its private care arrangements.
This was revealed by chief executive officer Dr Dexter James while giving the lunchtime lecture at the Grande Salle of the Tom Adams Financial Centre yesterday.
The event was held in conjunction with the Open Campus of the University of the West Indies and James was speaking on the topic Is Free Health Care Sustainable: The QEH Experience.
James explained that surgeons had the option of bringing private patients to the hospital for private care, and this used to generate about $7.5 million in revenue from these patients. (HLE)
