Maybe this season isn’t so new after all.
Orange 3 Pinelands have started the season in the same vein they finished the last, winning yet another title after surviving two second-half rallies to hold off Hilton Barbados Warriors 70-62 in Thursday’s final of the Co-operators General Insurance Knockout final at the Wildey Gym.
It was a virtual replay of last year’s title game, with Kevin John’s meaningless trey at the buzzer spoiling what would’ve been identical 12-point margins.
But it was only fitting the event bore a significant resemblance to 2014, as the double-crown champs spent the earlier part of the night collecting the lion’s share of the awards for a 2014 season in which they won just about everything – including that same knockout trophy.
