LONDON (AP) – British police on Sunday charged a man who spent the night on the roof of the Palace of Westminster with criminal damage and trespassing on a protected site.

Scotland Yard said 23-year-old Braydon Liam Anderson will appear at Westminster Magistrates Court on Monday. He allegedly made his way to the top of the Neo-Gothic masterpiece that serves as the seat of Parliament in Britain on Saturday night and stayed there until early Sunday morning.

The roof of the palace along the River Thames has long served as a favoured location for stunts by campaigners, such as those opposing the construction of another runway at Heathrow or protesting climate change.
