A NINE-YEAR-OLD boy was shot in the head on Saturday morning as he was travelling with his family along one of the most bustling streets in The City.

Police report the boy was in the company of his brother and his parents on lower Swan Street around 9:30 a.m. when he suddenly clutched his head.

Upon inspection, his parents realised he had been injured and he was taken to the FMH Clinic. The incident was then reported to police.  Follow-up investigations revealed the injury was caused by a gunshot.

Earlier reports had indicated that the child was taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital after the incident was reported to police.

Police say the boy made it through surgery successfully and is currently resting comfortably. Investigations are continuing. (CA)
