GOVERNMENT HAS been advised to invest more in primary health care as one means of improving service at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH).
In fact, the QEH’s chief executive officer, Dr Dexter James, maintains that fixing the deficiencies there could be easily achieved if many non-urgent services were redirected to polyclinics.
Speaking on the topic Universal Health Care And Sustainability: Our Reality, at the 22nd annual Louis Lynch Memorial Lecture at the Grande Salle, Tom Adams Financial Centre on Monday night, James stressed that erasing the problems at the QEH was not the only solution to the woes in the health-care system.
According to him, rectifying the situation would involve many components.
The major one, he explained, was providing more varied services such as diagnostics, which ought to be provided at the primary level. (SDB Media)
