SHONE GIBBS is the new man at the helm of the Barbados National Council of Parent Teacher Associations.

And already he and his team of newly elected officers are ready to work with individual Parent Teacher Associations (PTA), key organisations in society and on educating parents.

The former NCPTA vice-president told THE NATION in a telephone interview that he decided to run for the top office to “give the organisation a freshness and a new direction with a more intense focus on stakeholder partnerships and a more aggressive engagement of the domestic PTA”.

“When we speak of stakeholder partnerships, our focus would be to definitely develop and forge relationships with organisations like the BUT, the BSTU, the principals’ associations, both primary and secondary, as well as organisations like PAREDOS, MESA, the Child Care Board, which are all working together for the same stakeholder interest, but doing so solo style,” he said.
