Hill, Powell impress in speed event

ROGER ‘THE NINJA’ HILL and John “Penti” Powell grabbed the honours at the Spring Blaze 15 speed event in Wilson Hill, Malvern, St John, organised by the Motoring Club Barbados Inc. (MCBI) last Sunday.

It was a double-header and a joint event with the Barbados Rally Club (BRC).

Hill, a former champion driver, at the wheel of the Nassco/Esso/Pennzoil/MotorMac Toyota Corolla WRC, posted a time of 1 minute, 43.87 seconds on his first run and returned on his second run with a time of 1 minute 46.20 seconds before clocking the day’s fastest time in the first session of the double-header with a time 1 minute, 41.11 seconds.

As drivers returned to action after the end of the season recess, the BRC’s defending champion was a picture of concentration as he stormed into second place in the Power King Batteries/Carter’s Pit-stop/Gliptone/Stihl/Packaging Centre/The Unknown Entity/In support of Little Pink Gift BMW M3 with a time of 1 minute 41.42 seconds.
