THE BARBADOS NETBALL ASSOCIATION launched its 40th anniversary season with an innovative motorcade and a dazzling ceremony at the Garfield Sobers Sports Complex on Saturday.

With 38 clubs taking part in the new season, a high percentage of the 83 registered clubs formed part of the opening parade which was highlighted by a match between Freekz Customz Celebrities and a team of former national netballers that produced sheer entertainment and laughter.

Nothing was happening for Red Plastic Bag as he opted to manage the celebrity squad, while no uniform could fit Carl “Alf” Padmore, who chose to appear in his grandmother’s dress.

Those fans who were waiting to go to the bathroom might have found it unnecessary after Eric “Archie Bull Cox” Lewis emerged from the Freekz Customs truck on the court dressed in a green wig and extremely tight tights while engaging in some hilarious antics. (KB)
