NINETEEN-YEAR-OLD FARMER Romario Greaves came in for high praise last week.

The St Philip resident is reaping early success in agriculture, following in the footsteps of his father and grandfather.

In addition to a small farm at home where he is rearing chickens and pigs, Romario is also pursuing a diploma in agriculture at the Samuel Jackman Prescod Polytechnic.

He has already shown sound business sense, reinvesting the profits from the business to expand from sheep to pigs to chickens and wants to see more young people in farming.

Here are some of the readers’ comments:

Carolyn Sargeant: So sweet! Laughing your way to the bank instead of crying your way up the court steps.

Karen Browne: If you’re patient and dedicated and passionate, you will always have the last laugh.

Myrna Bourne: Good for you young man. You are making an honest living and not in the streets acting a fool. God bless.

Jackie Agard: I wish this young man great prosperity, keep up the good work.

Vishska Bokeesh: God bless this productive young man.

Dublin Abeni: Always remember the Princess Margaret motto, “Seek higher things”. Remember him from school. Wish you all the best.

Betty Mitchell: This is what I love to see; keep up the good work.

Ralph Forde: Great to see young people in this occupation. We need the current generation to carry on this vital enterprise and not abandon it because of technology. Wish him and others much success.

David Seon Griffith: I am so proud of you young Bernard. I wish you well in all of your endeavours. Keep up the great work.

Jason Hall: Keep ya head on and you will make it bigger than a lot of critics

Eureta Deane: I was just thinking that he is too busy to get into trouble. More young people should copy him.

Omar Bhana: Like father, like son. Both guys hard-working. Wishing you all the best.

Samanta Tomson: Wishing you all the best.

David E Hall: Great work! Romario, like so many others who are making headway in agriculture, need to be commended and continually supported.

Erica Murray: Congratulations young man: You are heading in the right direction, keep it up. And while you are at it, throw some pumpkin seeds around the pig pens and see how fast and big they grow. Talking from experience.
