BAS willing to work with cops on larceny

THE BARBADOS AGRICULTURAL SOCIETY (BAS) is willing to accept the help offered by the police to work with farmers to reduce crop theft.

Chief executive officer James Paul told the DAILY NATION in a telephone interview that cases of praedial larceny might have gone unreported in the past because of “a bit of indifference from authorities” but the BAS was ready to bring the farmers and the law enforcers together.

“I think that we can all agree that to the extent that the police have shown in more recent years a willingness to sit down and try to see what they can do, I think we need to overcome those difficulties that they had in the past and maybe develop a much more cooperative relationship with the police force,” he said.

He suggested that the BAS would consistently supply information on praedial larceny to the police after its regular meetings with members. (Green Bananas Media)
