Burke fifth best at Banzai Pipe

BARBADOS’ multiple national junior champion Josh Burke finished a commendable fifth at the World Surf League (WSL) Junior surfing meet at the Banzai Pipeline in Oahu, Hawaii, over the weekend.

Burke not only created history by being the first Bajan surfer to compete in an elite professional event at the most famous and feared wave spot in the world, but also proved to be one of the best junior surfers at the location.

His impressive performance in the WSL Pipe Junior event gained him a top five position from a field of 70 of the best professional junior surfers in the world in powerful surf with side shore wind creating difficult conditions. (EZS)
