QEH woes ‘still not fixed’

THERE IS NO evidence that Government has fixed the woes at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH), says former Minister of Health Senator Jerome Walcott.

He itemised problems such as pharmaceutical companies and other business still not being paid, leaving the hospital short of important supplies, the Accident & Emergency Department (A&E) not improving and some important facilities, including the new Cardiac Unit and Lions Eye Care Centre, not functioning.estimates-2015

Leading off the Opposition’s response when the Estimates debate reached the Senate yesterday, Walcott also said the $155 million allocated for the hospital in the upcoming financial year showed it was again underfunded. (SC)
