PLENTY OF ACTION, a good storyline, a villain or two, and really good acting all combine make Vigilante: The Crossing a must see movie.

Scores of people including the cast, producers, sponsors, friends, and movie buffs who attended the Williams Industries Ltd Caribbean Premiere and Cocktail Soiree at Limegrove Lifestyle Centre last week Friday night, all had good things to say about the fifth movie by the Step by Step Production team of Marcia and Dave Weekes.

The film stars Kirk Brown and Malissa Allana with a supporting cast that includes Allison Sealy-Smith, Adrian Green, David Gill, Kaye Foster, Claudette Wadman, Rico and Peter Boyce. It takes a look at the main theme of race relations in Barbados and the Caribbean.

Speaking to WEEKEND BUZZ before the screening, scriptwriter Marcia said “tonight is more than I can imagine” and she was pleased with the response. She said she had returned to Barbados that same day from the United States where the film was shown.

“The film was very well-received for a low budget film. People are talking a lot about the script, about the acting . . .”

In his address ahead of the movie screening, co-producer Dave told the guests that the acting and the production demonstrated that “we Barbadians are very talented and we have a lot to offer the world.

“I really want to thank God for giving us this opportunity, for giving us this mandate to make movies that are wholesome, that are uplifting and can actually inspire you to do great things.

“We don’t just want to make movies . . . . We don’t want to make movies strictly for entertainment . . . . There is also a place for what we call edutainment, meaning there are times when you need to learn something new and at the same time not in a boring way but in a way that captures your attention and motivates you,” Dave said.

Marcia said that she was working on two movies, one of which she was presently writing. She “would like to finish that one in November 2016”. Step by Step has also produced the Hush trilogy as well as Chrissy. (Green Bananas Media)
