BARABADIAN TEACHERS are not alone in their fight with the Caribbean Examination Council (CXC).

General secretary/treasurer of the umbrella Caribbean Union of Teachers (CUT), Dr Virginia Albert Poyotte, gave that assurance when she addressed the local Press at Courtyard by Marriott hotel this morning.

Though the workload for teachers in each country is different and may call for different actions, Poyotte said they are all fighting for compensation from CXC for marking School Based Assessments (SBAs).

Towards that end, Poyotte said the CUT is standing firmly behind the Barbados Secondary Union of Teachers, which has instructed members not to grade the final SBA projects, and other unions who want to take a stand. (YB)
