Pipe progress

THE BARBADOS WATER AUTHORITY (BWA) is engaged in a major pipe-laying project which will provide water to the south east of the island.

It is the BWA/Ionics Freshwater Limited project, which BWA corporate communications specialist Joy Ann Haigh said was being done with the aim to transfer water from the desalination plant in Brighton, St Michael, to the aforementioned parts of the island to facilitate thousands of construction applications there.

Haigh said the project utilised 12-inch pipes and was divided into three segments: the completed system one from Belle to JTC Ramsay Roundabout in St Michael and the ongoing system two from the Brittons Hill reservoir, St Michael to Providence reservoir, Christ Church and system three from Fort George, St Michael, to Searles, Christ Church.
