Change in mail delivery system

A CHANGE in Barbados’ door-to-door mail delivery system could be on the cards.

Joel Brathwaite, who has just retired as Postmaster General, hinted of a proposed move “to a situation where we have community postal boxes” particularly in high-rise buildings.

“What we are moving to is a situation where we have community boxes. We are not going to have postmen going up four, five floors to accommodate housing complexes above a certain level.

“What is in the pipeline is to ensure there is a system where boxes are placed at the floor level, one for security (reasons) the second for accessibility,” Brathwaite said during an interview with the WEEKEND NATION. (GC)
