New water sources for two parishes

THE BARBADOS Water Authority (BWA) is now in a better position to address the heavy demand in St Philip and Christ Church for supplies, with new water sources being found.

Minister of Agriculture Dr David Estwick said yesterday the BWA’s “Water Augmentation Project” was set up to find new supplies amounting to 3 million gallons daily and they had been found.

According to Estwick, six wells have been dug to tap the water and will go into operation “after electricity has been installed, the pumps placed and pump-testing completed”.

“An adequate water supply can signal the start of many of those housing and other development projects that are on hold in Christ Church and St Philip,” Estwick said. (TY)
