BARBADOS is set to create swimming history next month.

El Salvador’s loss will be Barbados’ gain as the local association has been given the green light to host the prestigious Central American and Caribbean Amateur Swimming Confederation (CCCAN) championships for the first time.

Following the decision of the CCCAN committee to pull the championships from El Salvador, Barbados won the bid to stage the June 23-30 event at the Aquatic Centre in Wildey.lanicabrera

“After El Salvador was withdrawn, other federations were invited to express an interest in hosting and because we had recently held a very successful Carifta Swimming Championships, we were favourably considered,” secretary of the Barbados Swimming Association (BSA), Tony Selby, told NATION SPORT yesterday.
