Credit cards all the rage these days

CREDIT CARDS ARE increasingly being used in the day-to-day activities of Barbadians, says a leading banker.

“It has become part of their whole budgeting process,” stated Glyne Harrison, president of the Barbados Bankers’ Association (BBA).

He explained the cards are being used to pay for basics like groceries and lunch, to shopping in local stores and buying items overseas or paying for hotels and travel via the Internet.

Explaining the attraction of the cards, Harrison said they allow easy access to credit without having to go through the formality of applying for a loan. This is particularly attractive to young people, especially those in their first job.  (SP)
