West Indies Women tumble to six-wicket defeat

AFTER A BIG opening victory on the tour to Sri Lanka, West Indies women lost the first official One Day International cricket match by six wickets on Friday.

West Indies collapsed from 95 for two and were all out for 124.

In response, Sri Lanka eased to 127 for four to take the first points in the ICC Women’s Championships.

West Indies Women 124 in 42.3 overs (Stafanie Taylor 43, Kycia Knight 28, Merissa Aguilleira 13 n.o., Hayley Matthews 11; Shashikala Siriwardene 4-30, Maduri Samuddika 2-16). Sri Lanka Women 127-4 in 39.2 overs (Shashikala Siriwardene  42 n.o., Yasoda Mendis 27, Lasanthi Madushani 16, Prasadini Weerakkody 15). Sri Lanka won by six wickets.
