Alex Jordan turned on the style yesterday as she retained the women’s title in the 8th annual BCQS/Jammin International Squash Masters on the Marine courts.

Jordan was in superb form as she turned back the challenge of Vincentian Sheriann Slater 11-8, 11-7, 11-6.

It wasn’t a good day for the Vincentians as James Bentick was also beaten in straight sets by Richard Chin of the United States 11-6, 11-1, 11-5 in the over-35 final.

Multiple local men’s champion Mark Sealy retained his over 45 title with an easy win over fellow Bajan Marlon White 11-5, 11-7, 11-6.

Carlos Barbosa of the United States stopped Barbadian Errol Pilgrim 11-5, 11-3, 11-9 in the over 65 category. Pilgrim, in his mid-70s, was the eldest player competing.

In the all Trinidadian over-55 final, John Holley beat Richard Hart 11-8, 11-5, 11-3.

National women’s champion, Karen Meakins, won the plate competition in the over 35s, defeating Canadian Robert Pacey 11-8, 11-7, 11-8.

Other plate winners included Tony Mckenzie in the over 45s and Craig Archer in the over 55s. (AT)
