Victory for West Indies Women on Sri Lanka tour

WEST INDIES WOMEN have jumped to third place in the ICC Women’s Championships after a 2-1 One-Day International cricket series victory against Sri Lanka in Colombo.

Behind career figures of three for seven from Hayley Matthews, West Indies restricted Sri Lanka to 125 all out in 45.2 overs to win by 31 runs.

Earlier, West Indies reached 156 in 47.3 overs, with Britney Cooper scoring 46 and Matthews 24. Inoka Ranaweera and Sripali Weerakkody took three wickets each.

West Indies won the tour 3-1, but the first match did not count towards the Championships.

They now have ten points from nine matches and are scheduled to play Pakistan at home later in the year. Australia are at the top of the tables with 12 points from six matches.
