BWU head warns of more industrial action

BARBADIANS COULD HAVE a big strike on their hands if the Government and private businesses continue to treat workers’ grievances as “low priority” items.

General secretary of the Barbados Workers Union Toni Moore issued this warning during a media briefing at the union’s headquarters today.

Moore told reporters that the union faced problems in getting a better deal from employers in the financial services sector, construction, the hotel sector, agriculture, the private security services and even in Government, where the Customs employees were concerned.

She spoke after the breakdown of talks between the union and representatives from the hotel sector this morning.  (TY)
