YEARS AGO I vowed never to go on a roller coaster again. I have succeeded physically. However the things going on in Barbados do take me on a mental roller-coaster ride.
After reading recently that Barbados won yet another gold at the Chelsea Flower Show, it vaulted me to the upper heights of the ride, and I must congratulate all concerned on the good work being done year after year.
On the other hand, the story about relating to the autopsy of the youngster who died recently, apparently from hanging, sent me smashing to the bottom.
I admit I do not know the full story, but the circumstances of a mother attending her son’s autopsy is at least strange, and nothing less than mind-boggling is the interruption of the process until the required expertise is on hand. I repeat, I do not know the full story but the overall circumstances are quite disturbing.
Whatever the reason(s) there must incredible anguish on the relatives and friends concerned, and it is a shock to the rest of us. One can only hope that this matter is dealt with as expeditiously and in as dignified a manner as is possible.
