Lighting a candle for Shemar

SHEMAR WEEKES’ GRIEVING mother Julieann, and about seven other relatives, joined members of the Checker Hall, St Lucy community for a vigil in his honour earlier tonight.

With candles in hand, the family met Shemar’s best buddies and others who were touched by his tragic passing just over two weeks ago, at the iron gates leading to their home.

An alleged mix-up in time saw them missing out on the short procession through the neighbourhood, but they were present to share in the singing, tributes and laying of flowers which formed a memorial.

Julieann, who broke down during the service, had to be assisted back to her home by relatives.  (YB)
