Post mortem report on Shemar Weekes by weekend

THE FULL WRITTEN post mortem report into the death of Shemar Weekes should be handed over to the Coroner’s Office by weekend.

According to a media release from the Assistant Commissioner Mark Thompson, the post mortem was conducted today by forensic pathologist Dr Sainagendra Prasad Kadiyala.

Thompson said he was briefed by Dr Kadiyala, who “promised to submit his written report by weekend”.

The release did not state what was communicated by the forensic pathologist.

The assistant commissioner also said although police were leading the investigation, it was not their role to disclose the findings of the post mortem. Rather, that decision falls within the ambit of the Coroner’s Office.

It said in closing that the file would be submitted to the Coroner’s Office rather than the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions “which manifests that certain conclusions have been reached”.

Twelve-year-old Weekes was found hanging at his home last month. (PR/SAT)
