Mia’s cure for crime

A NATIONAL conversation about crime; an end to the upheaval in the Barbados Police Force’s top ranks; and a curbing of the flow of guns into the country.

Just as important, kick-start the economy so that more jobs would be created for the unemployed. At the same time, send a strong message to people that the law courts weren’t there simply to try accused wrongdoers on Swan Street, the struggling working poor charged with petty offences while failing to deal with some other matters.

Put those elements together, insisted Mia Mottley, Barbados’ Opposition Leader, and the country would have an effective crime-fighting strategy that eases people’s anxiety about becoming crime victims.
