THINGS MAY SOON GET TOUGHER for public service vehicle owners and workers who continue to disregard the law.

Minister of Transport Michael Lashley has identified transferral and issuing of permits as one of the major headaches and he wants the matter urgently dealt with.

Another issue is enforcement, and Lashley has a suggestion on how to deal with it, if the police are unable to.

“We have to mirror our legislation similar to the Jamaica legislation, where the transport inspectors will have similar powers, and have powers where they can initiate prosecution. That is how we have to do it,” he suggested.
