THE HEADLINERS TENT opened to a moderate audience at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre Saturday night, as some of the more outstanding local calypsonians made their first appearance for the calypso season.

Some of those on the stage up to half-time were Bumba doing Bias; Blood with Right Here I Where I  Stand; Smokey Burke doing No Republic; reigning calypso king Ian Webster singing What Is Calypso and Colin Spencer, who got a spontaneous response for his rendition It ain’t Only Me.

With Adrian Boo Husbands taking a back seat this season, Smokey Burke took the microphone as emcee for the night. (JS)
