THIS YEAR’S Junior Calypso Monarch Competition is shaping up to be another battle royal.
The singers in both the 8-12 and 13-18 categories came out blazing at the first tent held at The Lester Vaughan School on Saturday night.
As has become the norm, the songs in the 8-12 category are more engaging and make for a more entertaining segment than that of the older singers, but there are two, in particular, in the 13-18 that cannot be ignored.
Interestingly, it was those same two songs which earned the only encores of the night, and left up to members of the audience, one memorable song would have gone on indefinitely.
Ah-Dee-Lah, who placed second to Sammy G last year, is looking to exit the Junior Monarch Calypso Competition with a bang – win, lose or draw.
