BARBADOS PROBABLY suffered their most humiliating defeat at the Caribbean Basketball Confederation Championships after getting blown out 71-49 by regional lightweights Suriname in yesterday’s classification contest.
It was the first time the ultramarine and gold ever lost to the Dutch-speaking nation, who only just returned to regional play at this tournament following a 17-year absence.
It was Barbados’ offence that went missing, particularly the three-point shooting as the Bajans went an abysmal two of 28 from behind the arc, led by Keefe Birkett’s one-of-12 showing.
Not that he was solely to blame, considering the team on a whole barely shot a hair above 23 per cent for the entire game.
