ON THE TENTH anniversary of the signing of the Petrocaribe Alliance, a fresh call has gone out for Barbados to join it as well as the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of our America (ALBA).

It came from both president of the Clement Payne Movement, David Comissiong, and secretary of the Friends of Venezuela Solidarity Committee, David Denny, both of whom were speaking during a celebration at the Venezuelan Embassy, Hastings, Christ Church yesterday.

“This project is a very important one for the poor and powerless and has played a major role in the development of many of our Caribbean nations. It is not only about fuel but also people. We in the region have benefited from the eye care programme as well as housing and education. It is time the Government of Barbados see this as a major project and I encourage Barbados to become a part of this process,” said Denny. (CA)
