STAFF at Kensington Oval are on strike.

About six staff members armed with placards are standing outside the Oval protesting the non-payment of retroactive pay.

Technician Winston Reid who spoke on behalf of the workers said they have been awaiting the payment since 2008. He explained that the board of management had signed off on it a year ago and advised that they should be paid as soon as possible. However, he said they were told that Kensington Oval Management Inc. had other commitments.

Reid said what triggered this morning’s actions was that management recently approved the payment of half the retroactive pay for one staff member.

The workers said they will remain on the picket line until they all receive the monies owed. (MB)
