BARBADOS’ biggest Crop Over street festival, Grand Kadooment, has a title sponsor.

It is Republic Bank that has come to the rescue of the event which has been without major sponsorship for some ten years.

This news broke during a sponsorship Press briefing at Republic Bank Broad Street, The City this morning which was followed by a spectacular parade from Broad Street to another branch at Fairchild Street and comprised a sample of Grand Kadooment revellers.

Manager of administration and acting chief executive officer of the National Cultural Foundation Wayne Webster said the Republic Bank Grand Kadooment represented “a very special time at the National Cultural Foundation since this occasion signifies the almost rebirth of the Grand Kadooment”.

He said the NCF had struggled over the past ten years to keep  Grand Kadooment as the signature event of the festival owing in part to dwindling corporate support.

“You can therefore imagine how excited we were when we got the news that the Republic Bank one of our most dedicated and committed sponsors of the Crop Over had agreed to rescue the ‘jewel’ as we like to call it through their investment of substantial sponsorship into this event.”

Those present at the ceremony and signing of sponsorship were general manager, retail banking Susan Torry and manager marketing and corporate communications Republic Bank Debbie Stoute. (JS)
