EVEN AS BUILDING ACTIVITY increases in Barbados, the Caribbean is proving to be a happy hunting ground for one of the island’s leading construction firms.

Six months after completing the $4.4 million Argyle Airport Rescue and Fire Fighting Building in St Vincent and the Grenadines, Innotech Services Limited has landed a $2.6 million contract and is now building a cargo building at the same site.

This was revealed by Innotech chief executive office Martin DaSilva.

“Having completed a previous project, namely the Airport Rescue and Fire Fighting Building on time and within budget, the airport authorities invited us to tender for a new cargo building project and in early May awarded the project to Innotech and we broke ground right away,” he told BARBADOS BUSINESS AUTHORITY.

“We have been asked to complete this building in record time and are preparing our team, who are working diligently, to produce another ‘construction to a fine art’ building in St Vincent and the Grenadines.”

Innotech has to deliver a two-storey cargo building with reinforced concrete floors and walls and a structural steel roof within seven months.

DaSilva said the cargo building “is the last of the main structures to be built on the site”, and he pointed out that “since 2011 Innotech has been involved in many construction projects” in the neighbouring island.

“As always, we appreciate the confidence the consultants and clients have and continue to place in us on this and other projects in St Vincent.

“The development team at the new airport has give a lot of consideration to every detail, paying particular attention to the quality of the work,” he said.
