29 for Pan Am Games

WORLD JUNIOR CHAMPION Akela Jones and Commonwealth Games bronze medallist Shane Brathwaite will lead a team of 29 athletes to the XVII Pan American Games in Toronto, Canada from July 10 – 26.

Barbados have never won a gold medal at the Pan Am Games but hopes are high that the 20-year-old Jones could end that barren run in either the heptathlon or the high jump.

Brathwaite, the only Barbadian to win a medal (bronze) at last year’s Commonwealth Games in Scotland, is after more hardware in the men’s 110 metres hurdles.
