ALLOW ME to say to the youthful leadership of the two leading trade unions, do not be dismayed, neither be daunted by criticisms nor the tasks at hand.
Some of your predecessors were described at various times by detractors as “young Turks”, “hot-headed”, ‘hot and sweaty” and “over-exuberant”.
You may hear and witness some of the things that persons such as (Sir) Frank Walcott, (Sir) Leroy Trotman, Mr O’Brien Trotman, Mr Joseph Goddard, Mr Dennis Clarke and other union leaders experienced immediately after assuming office.
Criticisms of union leaders is as cyclical a phenomenon as the four seasons and should be taken for what they are worth.
