JASON WILSON finished in fifth place today in the triathlon at the Pan American Games in Canada.
Wilson finished in a time of one hour 49 minutes and 19 seconds with Mexican athletes taking two of the three medals up for grabs.
Crisanto Grajales won the gold medal in 1:48:58 while compatriot Irving Perez won bronze in a time of 1:49:05. The United States’ Kevin McDowell captured the silver medal in 1:48:59.
The badminton pair of Sabrina Scott and Dakeil Thorpe lost their opening round match of the mixed doubles on Saturday. Cuba’s Melissa Azcuy Perez and Ernesto Reyes defeated the Barbadian pair in straight sets 24-21, 22-13.
In the women’s singles, Scott lost 21-3, 21-7 to Mexico’s Haramara Gaitan while Thorpe was defeated by Guatemala’s Heymard Humblers 21-5, 21-7.
Over on the tennis courts, Darian King and Haydn Lewis also lost their second round matches in the men’s singles. King lost 6-2, 6-4 to Canada’s Brayden Shnur while Lewis lost 6-1, 6-1 to Chile’s Hans Podlipnik Castillo. Both King and Lewis had advanced to the second round because of byes.
Seanon Williams had went down 7-6, 7-6 to Uruguay’s Rodrigo Arus in the opening round. (PG)
