A RESOUNDING NO to the proposed $700 million waste to energy plant and an enthusiastic yes to a sustained and effective recycling programme seems to be the position held by the hundreds of people attending the Future Centre Trust’s town hall meeting Monday night.
After hearing from Professor Paul Connett, a former professor of chemistry at St Lawrence University of New York, former Chief Town Planner Leonard St Hill and a main proponent of renewable energy in Barbados Mark Hill, several people voiced their concerns and fears and asked for answers.
They also offered suggestions such as reducing prices on green products, imposing taxes and fines for littering. More importantly some asked what Barbadians and citizens were going to do beyond attend fora such as the town hall meeting. (GBM)
