GARBAGE COLLECTORS who went on strike for a week will not be getting a cent in pay from the Sanitation Service Authority (SSA).
And with garbage still piling high across every parish in the country and in the capital Bridgetown a week after the collectors were supposed to return to normal duties, Minister of the Environment Dr Denis Lowe said the workers’ union would have to find money to pay the strikers.
The decision is likely, however, to spark another round of the sparring between Government and the National Union of Public Workers (NUPW) that brought the country to the brink of a national shutdown last week. (GE)
